Can I sue for false arrest if found innocent?

Sent to view a property listed for public auction by my Realtor, my partner and I arrived at the site and checked the building out including the inside, entering an open door and briefly examined the structure. When we left we were met by police outside and arrested on burglary and theft charges. There was nothing in our posses ion or on our person. There were no signs posted other than the auction announcement. They would not verify our reason for being there, but accused us of planning to rob the place, also of kicking the door in which was already ajar when we arrived. There was a small saw lying in the middle of the floor which I picked up and set on a nearby table They have seized our truck for contriban. We had to pay a bondsman 6000.and now 10,000 to att. We are both in our mid 50's with no prior records.Would this be false arrest? Can we sue for damages?
