Will taking tylenol 3s with codeine help ease withdrawl from oxycodone and oxycontin?

Just wondering.. I have a very close friend in which I live with who has been addicted to oxycodone and oxycontin for about two years now. He is trying to quit the bad habit cold turkey. He had a surgery about two years ago and has been on these things every since.. he is trying to find ideas to help ease his withdrawl symtoms.. he does not want to take suboxone or methadone for various reasons. He was thinking maybe taking some tylenol 3s with codeine to help ease it.. does anyone know if codeine will help him out with these yucky withdrawl symptoms? also is codeine in the same cl as oxycodone but in a much weaker form? Would taking enough of it take withdrawal symptoms away completely? don't know much about this stuff myself but he is miserable right now and I am doing everything I can to help him out.. if anyone knows anything about this stuff all answers will be greatly appreciated.. just want to know mainly if codeine and oxycodone are similar and if it will take away the withdrawl symtoms or at least help ease it alot? thanks for the help guys yahoo answers always helps me out alot ;)
