I have dark indigo 511 skinnys?

I want my 511 skinnys lighter I wore them for about a year but not as much as I think I should because only my pockets are kind of faded, and I alternate a lot with my other jeans. The main question is, should I wait longer and wear them out more before I wash them, and will they get lighter?
